dessert is brownies with walnuts, raspberry sauce, raspberries and french vanilla ice cream. i’m sooo not a cake person. this was perfect (came along with a rousing rendition of ‘happy birthday to you’ sung free of charge)

was zo’s 6th birthday. and it was also a jam packed day. followed by a jam packed weekend. followed by a week of being sick or just generally feeling lousy. so this is late, but still needs to be posted as she is such a cutie….
how about that classic toothless grin? zo is down 4 teeth and the top 2 are showing no signs of coming in anytime soon. being a zebra lover, this outfit was a no brainer for school on her birthday. she took in m&m cookies for a special treat for her class to enjoy.
after school, there were so many activities that she couldn’t open presents until 7:15pm. poor 3rd kid. but she was a pretty good sport about it after i gave her a sneak peek at her special ice cream cake from dairy queen.
it’s hard to see in this photo, but the edges were done in zebra stripes as well.

Big Weekend
and i'm not talking about the time change either…..i'm talking about this change:

The big 1-0
just a quick page about my new 10 year old. double digits. the big 1-0. she was pretty pumped for this birthday let me tell you. her big gift this year were tickets to wicked for the whole family. she also scored the spiderwick chronicles, cash, a new flashlight (just what she wanted), a new outfit for her american girl doll and a cool box filled with bath gels, chapsticks and headbands.
we celebrated with turkey a la king, cooked carrots, green beans and the infamous ice cream dessert complete with homemade truffles. all in all, a good day.

a head, they only think that highly of you about every 6-7 years.
yes, i cut my hair so i could be just like my LITTLE sister.....so what? she's

eve eve demise. yeah, it's a hand me down....just like old times when i

accessories that you can pull it out of the box and use it immediately. enjoy.

Zoe’s birthday wish
So, a couple weeks after zo's birthday, she mentions to me that her birthday wish didn't come true. This was a bit of a surprise to me considering the fact that she blew the candle out so quickly on her birthday cake there was no time to make a wish. but or course i went along with this conversation as you are supposed to do when you are a mom. you know, pretend you know what the heck is going on until the story is all lined up for you.
she goes on to reveal her wish to me (which really helped!) that her birthday wish was, "flowers in front of the house".
here's where the mom's all collectively sigh because that is just so darn cute. and also, i sighed in relief because this is a wish that i could grant. so zo and i set off in early may to buy flowers for the containers. i let her pick what ever she wanted (that meant no greenery filler plants, flowers only mommy) and she knew what colors she wanted. so these are zoe's flowers. i did go back out and buy a little filler plant (cause they were cute) and added a few more plants to fill out the planters but i think she did a great job.
i hope all her birthday wishes are that easy to make come true.
Birthday recap
it is time for a birthday recap. we survived the actual day as well as the chuck e. cheese birthday party on saturday. i am happy to report that i will NEVER have to do a chuck e. cheese party ever again. and for that i’m grateful.
aunt dianne and uncle bill went overboard again (well, aunt dianne went overboard!) and got zo matching outfits for her bitty twins chris and carla (chris not pictured) and of course the dress for zo as well. she wore it for 3 days straight.
zo was very excited to open this gift from aunt holly and uncle dean. i think it was after she opened this gift that tori exclaimed, "this birthday is almost as exciting as my own birthday!"
zoe was loving her chuck e. cheese party until chuck showed up. she was afraid of him and cried for quite awhile. if i had thought ahead, i would’ve predicted this. zo can easily be overwhelmed and it was crowded, loud and there was a big headed mouse dancing around.
and one of the best things about the party (besides the slides) was hanging out with daddy for a bit to regroup.
and finally, the flowers that we had on the alter at church in celebration of zoe’s birthday.

i would be totally sad if it weren’t for that smile of such jubilation. how can i be sad that my baby is 5 when she is so darn thrilled?

on friday, march 7th….connor turned 12.
whoa.
the highlights of the day included:
- mom making his favorite ice cream dessert with cookie dough ice cream (even though it really tastes better with peppermint)
- a report card with straight A’s and 1 B
- getting a new 8mb ipod nano (in green per his request)
- getting itunes gift cards for the above mentioned gift
- having 5 friends over for a slumber party
all in all, not a bad day…but it took me all day saturday to recover from it!
